CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "Unit Converter Pro" app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Our Core Principle
Unit Converter Pro converts units of measurement — length, weight, temperature, volume, area, kitchen measures, and more — and converts currencies using reference exchange rates. All conversions and calculations run entirely on your device. There is no account and no sign-up, and we do not run a server that receives what you enter. Specifically, we do not have access to any of the following:
- The numbers and expressions you enter, or the results of your conversions
- Your favorites, your conversion history, or the list of currencies you follow
- Your custom units, your own ingredients, your own exchange rates, or the fee you add to a conversion
- Your location — the app does not have the location permission
2. Exchange Rates
- Where the rates come from: Exchange rates are downloaded from Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev), which publishes reference rates from central banks and similar institutions. If it cannot be reached, they are downloaded from the open-source fawazahmed0/exchange-api, served through jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) and Cloudflare Pages (currency-api.pages.dev).
- What is sent: A rate request contains only the currencies and, for the history chart, the date range being requested. As with any request to a web server, those servers also receive your device's IP address and ordinary connection information. The amounts you enter, your favorites, and your history are never sent.
- When the rates are updated: When you open the app or when a widget is updated, the rates are downloaded again if the saved ones are more than 3 hours old. The last rates are saved on your device so that the app works offline, and the app also contains a built-in set of rates so you can convert right after installing it, even without a connection.
- The country you are in: In the two-currency travel view, the app can suggest the currency of the country you are in. It reads the country of the mobile network your phone is connected to, which Android provides without any permission. This is done on your device only and is never sent anywhere. The app does not use GPS or any other location service.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. This does not include personally identifiable information, the numbers you enter, or your favorites and history.
- Purchase information: We use purchase tokens issued by Google Play to verify your one-time "Premium" purchase. We never receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.
- List of our other apps: To show our other apps, the app downloads their names, descriptions, and icons from our content server (static files hosted on Cloudflare Pages). The request contains no personal data from the app. As with any request to a web server, the server receives your device's IP address as part of the connection. Tapping an app in the list opens its page on Google Play.
Unit Converter Pro does not include any analytics service and does not use your device's advertising ID.
3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device
- Favorites and history: The unit pairs and currencies you mark as favorites, and the conversions you have made (the latest 100), are stored in the app's storage on your device.
- Settings and your own data: Number format, the currencies you follow, the last unit pair you used, custom units, your own ingredients, your own exchange rates and fee (Premium), widget settings, and similar settings are stored on your device.
- Saved exchange rates: The last downloaded rates are kept on your device so that the app works offline.
- Automatic backups: Once a day the app saves a copy of your favorites, history, and settings inside its own storage on your device, keeping the latest 7 copies, so you can restore them if something is deleted by mistake. These copies never leave your device.
- Export, sharing, and copying: A backup file (JSON) or a CSV file is created only when you export one, and is saved only to the place you choose in the system file picker. Results are shared or copied to the clipboard only when you tap Share or Copy, and go only where you send them.
- Android backup: If backup is turned on in your device settings, Android may include your favorites, history, and settings in the backup it saves to your own Google account, and may copy them to a new phone when you transfer your data directly. The saved exchange rates and the app's own daily backups are excluded. This is handled by Android; we have no access to it.
- When you uninstall: Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes everything stored in the app's storage, including the automatic backups. Files you have exported yourself remain where you saved them.
3.3 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect
- The numbers you enter, the results of your conversions, your favorites, or your history
- Your location (the app has no location permission and does not use GPS)
- Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts (the app has no account or sign-up)
- Your photos, files, or the contents of other apps
- Your device's advertising ID, or a history of the websites you visit
3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes
Unit Converter Pro asks for no runtime permissions. It uses only the following, which Android grants automatically when the app is installed:
- Internet (INTERNET) — Used to download exchange rates, verify your Premium purchase with Google Play, show in-app reviews and in-app updates, send anonymous crash reports, download the list of our other apps, and show this privacy policy in the app. Unit conversions do not require an internet connection.
- Network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — Lets the crash reporting library check whether the device is online before sending a report.
- Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) — Lets the app ask Google Play to process the one-time Premium purchase.
4. How We Use Information
The limited information we collect is used only for the following purposes:
- Operating and maintaining the Service
- Verifying your Premium purchase
- Diagnosing and fixing crashes
- Responding to support inquiries
- Complying with applicable laws
5. Third-Party Services
Unit Converter Pro uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash diagnostic data
- Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — the one-time Premium purchase; payment is completed on Google Play, and we receive only a purchase token
- Google Play In-App Review and In-App Updates (Google LLC) — let you rate the app and install updates without leaving it; handled by Google Play
- Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev) — reference exchange rates and their history
- fawazahmed0/exchange-api, served through jsDelivr and Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.) — backup source of exchange rates
- Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.) — hosts the static list of our other apps
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertising networks.
6. About the Results
Exchange rates are reference rates provided for information and are updated about once a day; they are not live market rates. When you exchange money or pay by card, fees and other charges change the actual amount. Size charts, kitchen weights, and similar tables are general guides. Please check with the relevant institution or seller before making important decisions.
7. Data Retention
- Crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
- Support emails: retained for 12 months after the last reply, then deleted (except where legally required).
- Your favorites, history, settings, and backups on your device: kept until you delete them, uninstall the app, or clear the app's data. The history keeps the latest 100 conversions, and the automatic backups keep the latest 7 copies.
8. International Data Transfers
We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics, exchange rates, and hosting the list of our other apps may be located in various countries. When you use the Service, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you reside (e.g., the EEA, UK, California, Japan), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited information we hold. You can:
- Delete favorites and clear your history in the app at any time
- Uninstall the app or clear its data to erase everything stored on your device
- Contact us at the address below to make a request regarding the information we hold
10. Children's Privacy
Unit Converter Pro is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age applicable in your region). If we inadvertently collect information from such a child, we will delete it promptly upon being contacted.
11. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version is always published at this URL together with its effective date. We will also notify you within the app of significant changes as appropriate.
